E-ViewBox Project: The electronic négatoscope .
The Java language makes it possible to consider the distribution of images DICOM with an application or an applet allowing their visualization and their processing.
We thus developed a project of software, including/understanding a station server located at the level of a service of radiology which would allow the distribution of images in a network and by D-CRom.
Drank project:
To solve the problem of the digital transmission of the images in medical environment.
In English, viewbox or lightbox = négatoscope, E: electronics.

Interests of the eViewBox application :
- Preserve the original format of the data which remain intact (format DICOM).
- Soon conforming DICOM (Storage Class To use) (Condition: to read the DICOMDIR and to emit " Conformance Statement ".
- Function as an applet some is the platform on Internet Explorer or Netscape.
- Compactness in memory (120 Kilooctets)
- Allows all the functionalities of a traditional console scanner (measurements, rebuildings 2D and perhaps 3D)
Disadvantages of the application:
- Written in java (still a little slow on certain platform (Sun, Mac))
- Not yet conforming DICOM, because does not decipher the DICOMDIR.
- Miss the functions 3D.
- Do not decipher all formats DICOM (not the color, not compressions)
- Do not function in 16 bits but in 8 bits.
